Other Spring is a multifaceted project that critically investigates the societal implications of computational mediation, automation, and artificial intelligence (AI). Inspired by the ancient Chinese fable Peach Blossom Spring and drawing from zzyw’s research paper “Computational Haze”, the project comprises a virtual world, and a short film exploring the potential of "heretic computing" (Alexander R. Galloway, 2020) to challenge the monolithic idea of efficiency and precision that characterizes our contemporary information society. Set in a speculative future where an all-seeing, algorithm-driven network UNO (Universal-Network Observer) dominates, the project reflects on the urgency of privacy, agency, and individuality in our increasingly interconnected world.

Built on world-building, Contrasting UNO with Other Spring, a HAZE-shielded local network embodying alternative algorithmic philosophy, the project highlights heterogeneity and human agency. Combining research, architecture, and speculative fiction, it questions informatics societies and power dynamics.

Other Spring emphasizes algorithms' growing influence, encouraging dialogue among media theorists, artists, designers, and engineers for a more humane relationship with technology.
